I have been seeing my therapist for eleven-billionty years. For the first few years, I talked about mostly-superficial things. Let me back up. I started seeing my current therapist the last time I decided to lose weight as I was well-aware of how fucked-up I am about my body, food, and weight loss in general. [...]

I am thisclose to shutting down my blog and walking away. Why? Two political reasons and a host of personal ones. As my faithful readers know, I read Balloon Juice on a daily basis. There is a schism developing there that is pretty much par the course for the Democratic Party, and things really started [...]

I have been wrapped in melancholy today. It’s not the weather because I enjoy cool, rainy, drizzly days. In fact, they warm my soul, as contradictory as that sounds.
It’s partly political. I have been avoiding the story about the woman who worked for Halliburton/KBR and was gang-raped by her coworkers while they were in [...]

Where were you eight years ago (and one day) when the Towers fell? For my generation, it has replaced, “Where were you when the Challenger exploded?” as the defining question of our lives (at least until we elected Barack Hussein Obama as president).
Where was I? I was in California, the Bay Area to be precise. [...]

We lost a good man today. Well, yesterday, but I woke up to the news today. Senator Ted Kennedy, the last of the fabled Kennedy boys, has left this world. He has been in serious decline for the last year or so, so I can’t say it was a shock to wake up to the [...]

I am blogging tipsy again, and I have reached my limit with the sheer stupidity that is the GOP party right now (as well as the asswipes from the so-called liberal media who are nothing but a bunch of apologetic whores for the right). The birthers, the deathers (or, as Keith Olbermann calls them, the [...]

When we left your intrepid blogger, I was waxing poetic about sex. What? I was talking about god? Little matter. My blog, my spin. Anyway, we were talking about words and how much I adore them. They intoxicate me and fill me with a swooning glee. I savor the taste of a new word as [...]

Words are funny things. In and of themselves, they are pretty neutral. It’s only because of the meaning we imbue them with that they become charged. Take, for example, the word faggot or fag. In America, it’s a derogatory term for a homosexual man. In England, it’s a cigarette. Originally, it meant a stick.
In [...]

I am an All-American Grrl. I was born in Minneapolis, MN, and I am about as authentic as lutefisk, hot dish, and duck duck gray duck all rolled up into one. I call myself Taiwanese American, but I am definitely more American than Taiwanese. However, Taiwan is the motherland for me. Both my parents were [...]

As I have stated before, I missed the first wave of feminism as well as the second, the third, and apparently, the fourth (which may or may not be an actual wave). Most of my ideas about feminism and equality have come to me via experiences and discussions with other likeminded women. I have never [...]
